NEET UG re-exam sees 22 lakh aspirants, but wrong Google Maps direction cause students in Moradabad to miss centres, raising concerns over tech reliability.

Interestingly, this is not the first time that Google Map has forced people to divert from their way.
About 22 lakh medical aspirants appeared for the NEET-UG re-examination on Sunday. However, several aspirants in Uttar Pradesh’s Moradabad missed the medical entrance test after a wrong location on Google Maps led them away from their examination centres on time.
More than 22.79 lakh candidates are expected to appear at 5,440 centres spread across 551 cities in India and 14 centres abroad. The re-examination was held after allegations of irregularities and paper leaks in the earlier NEET-UG exam.
According to PTI, several aspirants missed the examination after the Google Maps directed them to a wrong location.
Faizan Ali, a resident of Sambhal, told PTI that the Google Maps showed an incorrect location for RN Inter College, leading him to the wrong venue. As he arrived at the actual centre after the stipulated reporting time, he was denied entry to the examination hall.
His father said Faizan had been preparing for the NEET for a long time and the alleged error may cost his son an entire academic year and demanded appropriate action by the authorities concerned.
Similarly, Sarthak, another candidate, failed to reach his allotted centre on time after being misled by an incorrect location on Google Maps. He was also denied entry as the reporting time had passed.
According to PTI, administrative officials spoke to the affected students after getting to know about the matter.
The students and their families informed the officials that the candidates about the technical glitches and urged authorities to find a suitable solution to ensure that such incidents do not adversely affect students’ futures.
Interestingly, this is not the first time that Google Map has forced people to divert from their way.
Recently, a family of five from Greater Noida escaped their death after they followed Google Map’s direction that led them to falling into a drain in Hapur.
