An IndiGo flight from Kochi to Abu Dhabi returned to Cochin International Airport on Saturday after a technical snag. Flight 6E 1403 landed safely and is undergoing maintenance checks.

An IndiGo flight bound for Abu Dhabi returned to Kochi shortly after take-off on Saturday morning following a technical issue, the airline said. The aircraft landed safely in Kochi and is undergoing maintenance checks.

In a statement, IndiGo said: “A technical issue was detected on IndiGo flight 6E 1403 operating from Kochin to Abu Dhabi on 6 September 2025. As a precautionary step, the pilots decided to turn back and the aircraft landed safely at Cochin International Airport. While the aircraft is undergoing necessary maintenance checks before resuming operations, an alternative aircraft was promptly arranged for customers to complete the journey.”

The airline added that it regretted the inconvenience and provided passengers with meals and refreshments while ensuring onward travel. “At IndiGo, we remain committed to the safety and security of our customers and crew,” the statement said.

AIR INDIA EXPRESS DELHI-INDORE FLIGHT LANDS AFTER ENGINE FAULT

In a separate aviation incident, an Air India Express flight from Delhi to Indore carrying 161 passengers on board suffered a mid-air engine fault on Friday, prompting the pilot to make a ‘PAN-PAN’ call to indicate a non-life-threatening emergency.

The aircraft, however, landed safely at Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport in Indore around 9:55 am, about 20 minutes behind schedule. No injuries were reported.

“After receiving information about a technical fault in one of the engines of the Air India Express plane coming from Delhi to Indore, we took all precautions and the aircraft landed at Indore airport at 9.55 am. As per the schedule, it was supposed to land at 9.35 am,” said Vipinkant Seth, Director of Indore airport.

Officials confirmed that all passengers and crew members were safe. The airline has yet to issue a detailed statement, but authorities said necessary checks would be carried out on the aircraft before it resumes operations.
