The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials of Karimnagar range trapped a mandal surveyor and his private assistant on Tuesday while accepting a bribe of ₹20,000 from a complainant in Rajanna Sircilla district.
The accused officer, Madishetty Venugopal, 38, working as mandal surveyor at the Tahsildar’s office in Sircilla, allegedly demanded ₹30,000 to survey a piece of land and issue a panchanama copy related to the complainant’s mother.
After initially taking ₹10,000 on October 13, following the survey, Venugopal sought the remaining ₹20,000 through his private assistant, 24-year-old Sura Vamshi, who collected the amount on his behalf.
The ACB officials recovered the tainted bribe money from Vamshi’s possession. Both Venugopal and Vamshi were arrested and produced before the special court for ACB cases in Karimnagar.
Meanwhile, the ACB urged people to report any demand for bribes by government employees by dialling the toll-free number 1064 or contacting Telangana ACB via WhatsApp (9440446106) and official social media platforms. The identity of complainants will remain confidential.
