DMK’s official mouthpiece ‘Murasoli’ launched a scathing attack on actor-politician Vijay over the recent Karur stampede, which claimed the lives of 41 people during TVK’s campaign rally.

The report alleged that Vijay, “hungry for publicity,” caused the deaths of 41 people by arriving late, keeping the crowd waiting, and depriving them of food and water.

The newspaper criticised him for continuing to sing on stage while people were reportedly dying, and for throwing a water bottle at someone who requested it.

It also claimed that Vijay misused police-provided space and conducted shooting under the pretext of holding meetings.

Murasoli further questioned Vijay’s stance on investigations, pointing out that he called the CBI under BJP control but still sought a CBI probe himself. The newspaper asked why his remarks on Prime Minister Narendra Modi did not provoke the BJP, suggesting this indicates he may be acting according to the party’s script.

The Supreme Court on Monday transferred the investigation into the tragic Karur stampede, from a state SIT to the CBI, following TVK's plea alleging a deep-rooted conspiracy behind the September 27 incident

Speaking in the assembly today, MK Stalin said the police had provided adequate space for the rally, but Vijay and his Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) team allegedly disobeyed authorities and mismanaged the event.
