GURGAON: An action plan aimed at addressing civic concerns in Gurgaon was finalised. The plan focuses on sanitation, road repairs, drainage management, providing shelter for stray cattle, trimming and safe disposal of trees around DHBVN power lines, and curbing the practice of burning waste in the open.
These measures will be carried out through a joint mechanism. The action plan was prepared based on feedback received from various citizens’ groups, RWAs, social organisations, and other institutions during the six-day Gurgaon visit of the chief minister’s principal secretary (CPS), Rajesh Khullar. On Monday, Khullar chaired two separate sessions at the Haryana Institute of Public Administration (HIPA), Gurgaon.
In these meetings, he engaged with municipal councillors and senior officers posted in the district to discuss the action plan, its objectives, and deadlines in detail.
He stated that this model will first be implemented in Gurgaon, and if successful, it will evolve into Gurgaon’s own "Model of Governance," to be replicated in other cities across Haryana. In the first session, Khullar interacted with Gurgaon Municipal Corporation councillors, who raised key issues from their respective wards in the presence of Mayor Rajrani Malhotra.
He patiently heard their concerns, sought suggestions, and assured them that Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini is fully committed to resolving Gurgaon’s problems, with visible results expected soon. He also stressed the importance of councillors’ cooperation in this effort. During the second session with district-level officers, Khullar expressed serious concern over accidents during the monsoon caused by electrical faults.
He directed Police Commissioner Vikas Arora that in case of such incidents in the future, FIRs must be lodged against the concerned JE, SDO, and XEN of the power department. He further ordered the cancellation of leave for all employees and officers of the electricity department until November, instructing them to conduct field inspections, check power lines, and ensure proper trimming and disposal of overhanging branches.
Referring to reports of garbage being brought into the city from outside, Khullar directed municipal and police officials to seize such vehicles immediately and register cases against the responsible agencies. He also ordered strict action against those found burning waste in the open, with police station heads directed to remain alert in their respective areas. Urging officers to work as a team, Khullar emphasised that each one must take responsibility for the areas between their home and office. “Feel the citizens’ pain and take personal initiative to resolve issues linked with this action plan,” he said, adding that quicker results will yield greater benefits for the city. He also mentioned that during his stay, he met numerous residents and visited different localities, stressing that the results of this plan should bring tangible improvements in people’s lives.
