Actor Kamal Roy passes away in Chennai

Actor Kamal Roy, 54, brother of actors Urvashi, Kalaranjini and late Kalpana, died in Chennai on Wednesday (January 21, 2026).

The death occurred due to cardiac failure, according to a communication.

He made his debut in the Tamil movie Puthusa Padikiren Paatu. Some of his movies included Sayujyam, Kollilakkam, Manju, Kingini, Kalyanasougandhikam, Vachalam, Shobhanam, The King Maker, and Leader. He had also appeared in the popular song Innum Ente Kannuneeril from the film Yuvajanolsavam.

Filmmaker Vinayan condoled the death of the actor. In a Facebook post, he recalled that Mr. Roy had played the villain character in Kalyanasougandhikam directed by him. It was late actor Sukumari who had mentioned him, said the filmmaker.
