Investigation revealed Jena went to Uttar Pradesh and started living as a hermit in Vrindavan to hide his identity
Keonjhar: Nandipada police arrested additional block development officer posted in Bhadrak district on Saturday night in connection with the murder of his wife on Oct 2. The accused was identified as Devi Prasad Jena.Police said that Jena allegedly hacked his wife, Sudeshna, 42, to death with an axe over a family dispute at Danar village in Keonjhar district’s Hatadihi block. After the incident, Jena fled the scene. A special team was formed under Anandpur sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) Prashant Behera to arrest the accused.Investigation revealed Jena went to Uttar Pradesh and started living as a hermit in Vrindavan to hide his identity.
On Saturday, he came to Puri by train and got down on Jajpur Road station. He had bought a bicycle from Jajpur and was coming towards his home. When he was near Nasirpur village, a police team detained him on Saturday night.After his arrest, Jena’s medical examination was conducted at the Salania community health centre. Relatives of the accused tried to foment unrest at the CHC but police controlled the situation. Behera said the accused will be produced before court. “He was going to his village to collect some items, when we caught him,” he added.
