Three MPs from Assam on Saturday (April 18, 2026) said any discussion in Parliament on delimitation and women’s representation must factor in the unique historical, political, demographic, cultural, and strategic realities of the northeastern region comprising eight States.
The MPs are United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) president Pramod Boro, and fellow party members Rwngwra Narzary and Joyanta Basumatary. Mr. Boro and Mr. Narzary are Rajya Sabya members, while Mr. Basumatary represents the Kokrajhar constituency in the Lok Sabha.
