AFCAT-I 2026 exam notification released
The Indian Air Force (IAF) has officially released the short notification for the Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT‑I) 2026, inviting applications from aspiring men and women to join as Group A Gazetted Officers.
This recruitment is for both the Flying and Ground Duty (Technical and Non‑Technical) branches, with training for successful candidates starting in January 2027. Registrations will open on 10 November 2025 and close on 9 December 2025 via the official AFCAT portal, afcat.cdac.in. Candidates are advised to ensure they meet all eligibility criteria and prepare for the three-stage selection process, which includes a written exam, an interview at the Air Force Selection Board (AFSB), and a medical examination at the Air Force Academy, Dundigal, Hyderabad.
AFCAT 2026: Branches and roles
The recruitment process through AFCAT exam will be done for the in the following roles:
- Flying Branch: Pilots responsible for operating fighter, transport, and helicopter aircraft.
- Ground Duty Technical: Engineers and technical officers managing aircraft, systems, and equipment.
- Ground Duty Non-Technical: Officers in administration, logistics, accounts, education, and meteorology.
Eligibility criteria
Interested applicants must fulfil the following eligibility criteria before registering for AFCAT 2026 online:
- Age Limits: Flying Branch – 20 to 24 years; Ground Duty Branches – up to 26 years.
- Educational Requirements: Candidates must have passed 10+2 with Physics and Mathematics and hold a relevant graduate degree. Technical branch applicants must meet specific engineering qualifications.
- Nationality: Only Indian citizens are eligible.
How to apply for AFCAT 2026
Once the application window opens on November 10, candidates will be able to register online by following the steps below:
- Visit the official AFCAT portal afcat.cdac.in.
- Click on the AFCAT‑I 2026 registration link.
- Complete registration and create a login ID.
- Fill in personal, educational, and communication details.
- Upload photograph, signature, and other required documents.
- Pay the application fee and submit.
- Save the confirmation page for future reference.
