The BJP on Tuesday launched a fresh attack on the Congress, targeting not only senior leader Pawan Khera but also his wife Kota Neelima, alleging that both hold multiple voter identity cards. BJP IT Cell chief Amit Malviya claimed that Neelima, who contested from Khairatabad in Telangana, has two active EPICs, one in Khairatabad and another in New Delhi, and linked this to earlier revelations that Khera himself possessed dual voter IDs.

Accusing the Congress of indulging in systematic “vote chori," Malviya said those engaging in such practices were the very ones maligning ordinary citizens, and insisted that the Election Commission must probe the matter, while also calling out Rahul Gandhi’s silence on the issue.

Rahul Gandhi held a press conference and, without adequate due diligence, targeted and tarnished honest voters — even putting them at risk by revealing their identities without consent. The BJP leader further alleged that the issue reflects a deeper malaise within the Congress, tracing it back to Sonia Gandhi’s inclusion in the voter list in 1980 despite being Italian-born. Malviya said this pattern explains why Congress and the INDIA bloc “defend illegal migrants and non-Indians while castigating our own people."

Calling for accountability, Malviya demanded that Rahul Gandhi break his silence and that the Election Commission investigate the allegations. “Rahul Gandhi cannot extricate himself from these acts of criminality within his own ranks, particularly involving people aspiring for public office and members of his inner coterie," he added.

The fresh attack by BJP comes after the Election Commission on Tuesday issued a notice to senior Congress leader Pawan Khera for allegedly registering himself in the electoral roll of more than one assembly constituency in Delhi.

The notice was shared by the District Election Officer (DEO) of New Delhi on social media platform X, along with a copy of the official order. The Congress leader has been directed to respond to the notice by 11am on September 8.
