'Malikappuram' screenwriter Abhilash Pillai revealed a surprising call from his ex-girlfriend after the film's success. She inquired about a role in his next project. Pillai humorously recounted that he's already reserved a role for someone in his own house, leading her to abruptly end the call. He also shared that he later married his ex's roommate.
'Malikappuram' screenwriter Abhilash Pillai has spoken openly about a very personal moment from his life. In a recent interview Abhilash said that after watching the superhit film 'Malikappuram' his ex-girlfriend called him.
She first congratulated him and said she liked the film a lot. Then she asked him a direct question. She asked if he could give her a role in his next movie. Abhilash Pillai said this call did not last long. He said the moment she heard his reply she cut the call and went silent.Abhilash shared this during an interview with the YouTube channel Chef Nalan.
A college love that did not last
Abhilash Pillai spoke about his college days and his first serious love.
He said, “When I was in college I seriously liked someone. If that person had taken that relationship forward in the same way I would have married her.”He made it clear that he does not want to blame anyone. Abhilash said, “But at one point. I won’t say she dumped me. I am not saying that. It depends on each person’s mental state. Sometimes love breaks because it does not work out for them.” He spoke about how love sometimes fades without anger or fights.
He said it is just how life moves on.
The reply that ended the call
Abhilash Pillai then spoke in detail about the call that came after 'Malikappuram'. He said that after he finished working on the film his ex-girlfriend sent him a message. She is now living in another place and is not in India. She somehow got his number and called him.Abhilash said that his ex told him that she watched 'Malikappuram' and that it was very good. She praised him and said it was an amazing film and that he had become a great filmmaker.
After saying all this she asked him if he could give her a role in his next film. That is when he gave his reply.The writer said, “Then I told her that in my life I had kept one role reserved and now that role is being done very well by someone in my own house.” Abhilash Pillai said that as soon as she heard this answer, she quickly cut the call.
A funny twist in his love story
Then Abhilash Pillai shared the funny side of his love story. He said, “The comedy in this is that out of that anger I fell in love with that girl’s (Ex) roommate and married her.”He said they were in love for a long time before marriage. “We were in love for around six years before getting married,” he added. Life took a very unexpected turn for Abhilash. But it led him to the person who is now his wife.After 'Malikappuram', he went on to write the screenplay for the film 'Sumathi Valavu'.
