MOHALI: In a major breakthrough, the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF), Punjab, in a joint operation with Mohali Police, has apprehended a key operative linked to foreign-based gangsters and recovered a .32 calibre pistol along with five live cartridges, said Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav on Friday.Preliminary investigation indicates that the accused was acting on the directions of handlers based abroad and had been assigned multiple targets across the Tricity region. Officials said the arrest has averted potentially serious criminal activities in the area.The development follows an earlier joint operation on April 18, during which a gangster module was busted with the arrest of four accused.Further investigation is underway to establish backward and forward linkages of the network.Punjab Police reiterated its commitment to dismantling organised gangster networks and ensuring peace and security across the state.
