An Air India Express flight from Hindon Airport in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad to Kolkata was delayed on Sunday after a technical snag was detected shortly before takeoff, officials said.

Flight IX 1511, which was scheduled to depart from Hindon Airport—a base primarily used for defence operations but recently opened for limited civilian flights—was grounded for over an hour after the aircraft developed a snag while on the runway.

According to airport sources, the aircraft had taxied and was preparing for takeoff when the flight crew identified a last-minute technical issue.

The exact nature of the fault was not immediately disclosed. Ground engineers were called in to assess the problem, resulting in a delay in departure.

Air India Express, a subsidiary of Air India, confirmed the delay in a brief statement and apologised for the disruption.

“Our Hindon-Kolkata flight operated, with a delay, due to a snag on the originally assigned aircraft. Guests were offered complimentary rescheduling or cancellation with a full refund. We regret the inconvenience," an Air India Express spokesperson said.

Passengers were allowed to reschedule or cancel their bookings with a full refund as the airline worked to resolve the issue. The flight eventually departed after engineers cleared the aircraft for safe operation, the officials added.
