Air India San Francisco to Mumbai flight suffered a technical glitch in its left engine, forcing passengers to deplane in Kolkata, where the flight had arrived for a layover.

An Air India flight from San Francisco to Mumbai suffered a technical glitch in one of its engines, after which all passengers were asked to deplane at the Kolkata airport, where the flight had arrived for a layover.
The incident happened during the early hours of Tuesday.
According to the details, Air India flight AI180 arrived on time at the Kolkata airport at 12.45 am. However, a technical snag in the left engine delayed the takeoff.
At nearly 5.20 am today, an announcement was made in the aircraft asking all the passengers to deplane.
The captain of the plane told the passengers that the decision was being made in the interest of flight safety.

On Monday, an Air India Express flight from Delhi to Ranchi was diverted back to the national capital shortly after taking off, due to a suspected technical issue.
The Boeing 737 Max 8 plane was scheduled to land at Ranchi’s Birsa Munda Airport at 6.20 pm. After the inspection and clearance, the aircraft continued its normal operations, according to an Air India spokesperson.
Before that, an Air India flight returned to Hong Kong shortly after takeoff due to a midair technical issue.
Air India said in a statement that the New Delhi-bound plane landed in Hong Kong safely and was undergoing checks “as a matter of abundant precaution."
Airport Authority Hong Kong said in a separate statement that flight AI315 returned to the southern Chinese city’s airport around 1 pm.
On June 12, a horrific Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad left a total of 241 passengers and crew on board and 29 persons on the ground dead.
The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner with 242 persons on board crashed into a medical college complex in Ahmedabad moments after taking off from the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport at 1.39 pm.
Among the victims was Gujarat’s former Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, who was cremated on Monday.
The rescue operation following the Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad lasted nearly four hours, involved around 650 personnel, and used approximately 7.5 lakh litres of water for firefighting and cooling, Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Services Chief Fire Officer Amit Dongre said on Monday.
Detailing the extensive efforts, Dongre said that over 90 ambulances and more than 100 firefighting vehicles were deployed at the crash site.
