Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar Wins Asian Championship Gold In 50m Rifle 3 Positions

Indian shooter Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar delivered a commanding performance to win the gold medal in the men’s 50m rifle 3 positions competition at the Asian Shooting Championship on Sunday.

Tomar scored 462.5 to secure first place. China’s Wenyu Zhao claimed the silver medal with 462 points, while Japan’s Naoya Okada took bronze with a score of 445.8.

Tomar led the event for most of the competition, showcasing his dominance. The 24-year-old Olympian excelled in the kneeling position. Although he did not replicate that performance in prone, he did sufficiently well in the standing round to emerge as the winner, entering the final phase of the competition with a lead of over 1.5 points.

Among the other Indian shooters, Chain Singh finished fourth, while Akhil Sheoran ended fifth in the final.

Earlier, the Indian trio of Tomar, Chain Singh, and Sheoran won the silver medal in the 50 metre rifle 3 positions team event.

Tomar was placed third in the qualification with a total score of 584.

This was Tomar’s second Asian title in the same event, having won gold in 2023 as well. However, he had to settle for the silver medal after losing to compatriot Sheoran at the 2024 edition in Jakarta.
