AJ Lee returned to WWE on SmackDown in Chicago after 10 years, joining CM Punk to confront Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch, reshaping the women’s division and igniting fan excitement.

The Women’s Division in WWE just got a major shock: AJ Lee is back.

After 10 years away from the ring, the former Divas Champion returned on SmackDown in Chicago, making her long-anticipated comeback alongside her husband, CM Punk, to confront Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch.

Lee, who last wrestled in March 2015, received a thunderous ovation at the Allstate Arena, where chants for her had been echoing for days.

As Rollins looked on smugly from the rafters and Lynch prepared to strike Punk again, Lee’s familiar “Light It Up" entrance music hit, sending the crowd into a frenzy.

The Fallout from Clash in Paris

Her return follows the controversial events at WWE Clash in Paris, where Punk came within seconds of capturing the World Heavyweight Championship in a Fatal 4-Way. Just as Punk prepared to land a second GTS on Rollins, Becky Lynch intervened with a low blow, allowing her husband to retain.

During the match, Rollins taunted Punk by yelling, “I hate your stupid family!"—a line that set the stage for a fiery RAW promo the next night.

There, Punk shot back at Lynch: “It is about your husband, who is a coward." The exchange ended with Lynch slapping Punk, as fans loudly chanted for AJ Lee. Becky mocked them, saying: “Classic, always chanting for a dope who doesn’t work here."

That changed on Friday night, when Lee officially ended her 3,800-day absence from WWE. After circling the ring, she finally stepped inside and unleashed a furious attack on Lynch, leaving both her and Rollins stunned.

For Punk, the timing could not have been better. Earlier this week, he confirmed he would appear on SmackDown, with the show taking place in his hometown of Chicago. The arena erupted when his wife joined him in the ring for the first time in over a decade.

Lee’s return instantly reshapes the women’s division. At minimum, fans can expect a high-profile clash between Lee and Lynch.
