Popular Kannada actor Ajai Rao has broken his silence after weeks of speculation surrounding his marriage to wife Sapna. The couple, who tied the knot in 2014 and share a daughter, Cherishma, are reportedly heading for divorce after 10 years together.

Ajai Rao’s heartfelt note to fans - 'Your understanding, support, and discretion mean a lot to us'

Taking to Instagram on August 16, Ajai Rao addressed his followers and the media with an emotional appeal. His note read, “At this sensitive time, I kindly request everyone to respect the privacy of our family and refrain from sharing or spreading any immediate news regarding personal matters. Every family goes through challenges, and it is our humble request that these remain private. Your understanding, support, and discretion mean a lot to us.

Sapna’s complaint under DV Act

As per the Free Press Journal, fresh reports say that Sapna has approached a magistrate’s court under Section 12 of the Domestic Violence Act, filing a formal complaint against Ajai Rao. While details of the complaint remain under wraps, the news has shocked fans who admired the couple’s long journey together. Ajai, however, appeared uncertain when asked about it. Speaking to Asianet News, he said, “Did my wife go to court? I don’t know about this.

I’ll talk to my wife and tell her.”

From love story to crisis

Ajai and Sapna’s love story had been one of Sandalwood’s most admired. After several years of dating, they married on December 18, 2014, in Hosapete. The couple welcomed their daughter, Cherishma, in 2019. In 2024 they celebrated a new beginning as they moved into a home near Yelahanka, Bengaluru.Meanwhile on the work front, Ajai Rao was last seen in the 2022 film 'Super Machi'.
