VARANASI: Along with disseminating information, education, and entertainment, Akashvani has played a significant role in preserving the country's cultural heritage. Carrying forward this glorious legacy, the grand 67th edition of Akashvani Sangeet Sammelan is being organised by 24 centres across the country this year.
Under this initiative, Akashvani Varanasi is organising the Akashvani Sangeet Sammelan on Saturday at Pt. Onkarnath Thakur Auditorium, located in the Faculty of Music and Performing Arts, Banaras Hindu University.According to the organisers, for the first time this year, the Akashvani Sangeet Sammelan will feature presentations of folk music along with classical music. In the programme, renowned artist from Banaras, Shubhankar De, will present a classical vocal performance, accompanied by Siddharth Chakravarti on tabla and Indradev Chaudhary on harmonium.
Meanwhile, Bhojpuri folk songs will be presented by Manna Lal Yadav and associates in the folk music segment.Started by Akashvani in 1954, the Akashvani Sangeet Sammelan is not just a musical festival but a living tradition that connects music lovers across generations and reflects Akashvani's commitment to promoting India's rich and diverse musical heritage. This event is not only an important step towards preserving cultural traditions but also proof of Akashvani's commitment to taking the rich heritage of music to new heights.
