An Alabama Crimson Tide fan became the center of attention on Saturday night, August 31, 2025, after he pointed his middle finger straight at the TV cameras during the closing minutes of the team’s 31–17 loss to Florida State at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee.

The clip quickly spread online as it captured the frustration of Alabama supporters watching their team lose a season opener for the first time since 2001.

Late in the fourth quarter, Florida State was up two scores over Alabama when the viral moment took place. One irate fan stuck up his middle finger at the camera as the ESPN broadcast highlighted the Alabama section of the throng.The shot was cut off within seconds, but viewers had already caught it.

The video began spreading online almost instantly, with many saying it summed up the frustration of Crimson Tide fans.

The 31–17 result ended Alabama’s 24-year run of winning in Week 1. Florida State, on the other hand, enjoyed its first victory over Alabama since 2007.Alabama briefly had hope when wide receiver Rico Scott scored a touchdown early in the fourth quarter to cut the score to 24–17. But Florida State answered right back.

Running back Gavin Sawchuk broke through the defense for a 14-yard touchdown run that sealed the game with only minutes left.

Kalen DeBoer under pressure after Alabama’s rare opening loss

For Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer, Saturday’s defeat added even more pressure. DeBoer is in his second season leading the Crimson Tide and is already under the gun to show he can do the job. In 2024, DeBoer’s first year as head coach, Alabama lost four games. Now, after opening up the 2025 season with another loss, he was 9–5 through 14 games and three of the losses were in the last four games.

In winning the game, Florida State exerted control of the game, especially in die second half, showing poise when Alabama tried to make a run to win the game. The win in Doak Campbell was off to a great start in the 2025 season and a game confidence boost for the Seminoles.Alabama will head back to Tuscaloosa with a Week 2 matchup against Louisiana-Monroe. DeBoer should be feeling even more pressure like his players will, to respond quickly after such a dismal start to the season.
