Chennai Police have registered a Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (Pocso) case against All India Hindu Mahasabha leader Srikandan following allegations of sexual assault on a minor.
Investigations revealed the involvement of the victim’s aunt, Nirmala, who has been named as A2 in the case.
Sources said Srikandan and Nirmala were in a relationship, and in 2023, when the minor visited her aunt’s house, Nirmala allegedly allowed the assault to take place knowingly. “It is on this ground that we have made the aunt A2 in the case,” said police sources.
The incident reportedly occurred in 2023, but the complaint reached police only a few days ago. Both Srikandan and Nirmala have been arrested by Chennai Police.
In another case in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, pastor John Jebaraj of King Generation Prayer Hall was charged under the Pocso Act after two girls, aged 17 and 14, alleged sexual assault at his residence on May 21, 2024.
Sources said the girls were brought to the pastor’s home by his father-in-law, where the assaults took place. The family reported the matter to police nearly eleven months later. Sections 9(I)(m) and 10 of the POCSO Act were invoked for aggravated sexual assault.
