All rain gauge stations in state cross 2,000mm-mark

Panaji: With only three more weeks of the southwest monsoon, all 14 rain gauge stations in Goa have officially crossed the 2,000mm rainfall mark. The latest to join the list is Mormugao, which recorded a cumulative 2,004.1mm of rainfall.While the state as a whole experienced widespread rainfall, certain areas emerged as clear leaders in rainfall accumulation. Sanquelim recently crossed the 3,000mm mark, joining Valpoi (3,792.9mm), Ponda (3,136mm), Dharbandora (3,848.4mm), Quepem (3,601.5mm), and Sanguem (3,896.6mm).Among these, Dharbandora currently leads the tally, fast approaching the 4,000mm milestone.Despite this, the southwest monsoon was reported as weak over the state on Sunday, with very light to moderate showers recorded across many parts of Goa.The India Meteorological Department has forecast light to moderate rainfall across the state from Sep 8 to 13.
