Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh is gearing up for one of its largest-ever wellness initiatives, with the State Govt planning to organise Yogandhra 2026 on a grand scale across all districts. Chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Friday directed officials to ensure the programme becomes a mass movement, with a target of involving one crore people from villages to cities.Reviewing preparations for International Yoga Day celebrations, the chief minister approved a 14-day statewide campaign beginning on June 7 and culminating on June 21. The highlight of the initiative will be a massive state-level yoga event in Amaravati, where 25,000 participants are expected to perform yoga together in the presence of the chief minister. The event will be held on the bridge across the Krishna River being constructed as part of the West Bypass Road project, creating a unique setting for the International Yoga Day celebrations.Simultaneously, district-level yoga programmes involving around 1,000 participants each will be organised at district headquarters, with ministers and senior officials taking part. The govt has allocated ₹25 lakh per district for conducting Yogandhra activities.To ensure wider participation, the state plans to expand its pool of yoga trainers. In addition to the existing 1.5 lakh trainers, another one lakh individuals will be trained.

Officials said each district will adopt a unique theme during the 14-day campaign.The programme will involve coordinated efforts by the health, education, municipal administration, panchayat raj, endowments and IT departments. Special yoga sessions will also be held at 56 major tourist destinations across the state, besides parks, educational institutions and govt offices.Meanwhile, Yoga and Naturopathy Advisor Manthena Satyanarayana Raju unveiled a series of digital awareness initiatives, including videos on 90 yoga asanas, pranayama techniques and yoga-based solutions for 21 health conditions. These resources will be made available through digital platforms to encourage public participation and promote a healthier lifestyle across Andhra Pradesh.
