Amid an outpouring of grief, the body of Midhun, a 13-year-old student who was electrocuted at a school at Thevalakkara in Kollam, was cremated on the premises of his house at West Kallada on Saturday.

Suja, his mother, returned from Kuwait, where she was working as a domestic help, earlier in the day to bid farewell to her elder son. Midhun’s body was brought to Thevalakkara Boys High School around 11 a.m., where he was studying in Class VIII. Hundreds of people, including his friends, gathered at the school to pay their last respects.

The body was taken home around 2 p.m., where heart-wrenching scenes unfolded. The funeral pyre was lit by Midhnu’s younger brother Sujin.
