DMK deputy general secretary A. Raja on Friday said Union Home Minister Amit Shah, “who is from another State”, cannot decide who will become Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.
In a statement, he said it seems Mr Shah is scared of Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin that he will build a memorial to the BJP-AIADMK alliance in the 2026 assembly election. “The Chief Minister meant for us will come from Arivalayam [DMK headquarters]. For BJP-AIADMK it will come from Nagpur,” Mr. Raja said.
His comments came in response to Mr Shah’s contention that Mr Udhayanidhi Stalin will never become the Chief Minister.
“The fascist BJP is a poisonous plant which must be completely uprooted and thrown out of India. The INDIA bloc and people will ensure that,” he claimed.
“Amit Shah who went to jail in the Sohrabuddin Sheikh encounter case, is not qualified to bring the Constitution (130th Amendment) Bill ,” Mr. Raja felt. He alleged 39% of ministers in Modi cabinet have cases against them and will the bill be applicable to them. “The Bill is targeted at those they dislike and remove them from power. Terming it black bill is apt. If the bill is good, why it is not applicable to the BJP,” Mr. Raja claimed.
He alleged the ruling BJP is misusing the enforcement agencies to target its political opponents and with the bill it plans to target the Chief Ministers of non-BJP ruled States.
“This is not [AIADMK leader] Edappadi Palaniswami’s regime that trembles in fear at the threats and intimidations of Amit Shah. This is Chief Minister M K Stalin’s government which stands firm to protect Tamil Nadu’s land, language and dignity,” Mr. Raja said.
He also pointed out in the past Mr. Shah had stated that the AIADMK regime was corrupt and now BJP has formed an alliance with AIADMK. “His remarks that there is a corrupt regime now in the State, is laughable,” Mr. Raja said.
“The Centre has not announced schemes for Tamil Nadu in the budget and does not allocate sufficient funds for Tamil development. In this situation, is Mr. Shah not ashamed about stating that they will win in the State,” he posed.
“Shah is doing politics with lies which have already been defeated before the people’s forum. BJP’s cunningness won’t win Tamil Nadu,” Mr. Raja contended.
