RAIPUR: Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s scheduled visit to Narayanpur has been abruptly cancelled due to unavoidable circumstances on Monday. Shah, during his two-day visit to Chhattisgarh was slated to travel to the conflict-affected Narayanpur district but he paid a courtesy visit to the family of Additional Superintendent of Police Akash Rao Girepunje, who was killed in an IED blast in Sukma on June 9.
The meeting took place in Nava Raipur, where the minister expressed his heartfelt condolences and offered solace to the grieving family.Commending the bravery and sacrifice of the officer, Amit Shah said that Akash Rao Girepunje’s martyrdom is unforgettable for the nation. He added that the country will always remain indebted to his sacrifice and vowed that his sacrifice will never go in vain. Describing the courage and sacrifice as inspiring, the Home Minister called his contribution invaluable to the nation.During the meeting, Shah assured the bereaved family that the govt stands firmly with them at every step. He reaffirmed the govt’s commitment to providing all possible support and assistance to the families of martyrs.Shah also conducted a detailed review of ongoing anti-Naxal operations and met with security personnel involved in operations that neutralized the Maoists during Karregutta and Basvaraju. The meeting was held at BSF camp in Nava Raipur.
According to official sources, the original itinerary involved a detailed tour of Narayanpur, with engagements aimed at boosting morale among security personnel and interacting with local villagers. However, officials confirmed that the plan has been called off.
