Amoebic meningoencephalitis claims one more life in Kerala

Amoebic meningoencephalitis claimed one more life in the State with a 45-year-old woman succumbing to the disease on Thursday. She is a native of Pattanitheruvu, Noorani, in Palakkad district.

Two more cases were confirmed on Friday, one from Veeranakavu in Thiruvananthapuram and the other from Erumely, Kottayam. This takes the total number of amoebic infections reported so far this year to 164, with 38 deaths.

This month, already 11 cases and five deaths have been reported. In October too, 65 cases of amoebic meningoencephalitis and 12 deaths were reported in the State.
