Ana Taban, the first-ever resident Ambassador of Moldova to India, has wrapped up her historic tenure with a farewell note that is now going viral online. “As I bid farewell to India after serving as the first resident Ambassador of Moldova to this beautiful country, I leave as a lifelong friend of the incredible Indian people.
What an amazing time representing Moldova in India and opening a diplomatic mission. We built friendships, we built partnerships, and we made history,” she wrote.The ambassador went on to add how India had left an imprint on her personally:“My dear India, I will carry with me forever your way of being, your way of thinking, your way of living—it is very special, very beautiful, and very powerful. My deepest gratitude to our colleagues at @MEAIndia (Ministry of External Affairs) for their unwavering support.

Moldova’s first resident Ambassador in India
Ana Taban holds the distinction of being the first diplomat from Moldova appointed to India, a role that saw her establish and lead the country’s first resident diplomatic mission in New Delhi. Moldova, a small landlocked nation in Eastern Europe, sits between Ukraine and Romania and gained independence in 1991 after the collapse of the Soviet Union.Before her ambassadorial appointment, Taban served within Moldova’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration.
With a professional background in journalism, she began her career as head of communication at the Ministry, later serving as Spokesperson and Head of the Information and Media Outreach Office.
