The Anandapura police in Sagar taluk shot at an accused and arrested him on Tuesday. The accused has been identified as Sachin.
A team of police, led by sub-inspector Yuvaraj, tried to nab him when he allegedly escaped after attacking the head constable, Ashok, who suffered injuries.
Mr. Yuvaraj reportedly opened a fire at Sachin and arrested him.
Shivamogga Superintendent of Police G.K. Mithun Kumar said that even after repeated warnings, the accused refused to surrender and instead attacked the staff, forcing the police officer to shoot at him.
Mr. Kumar said the accused had many criminal cases. He was released from jail about three months ago. Recently, he committed a few crimes, prompting the police to arrest him.
