PMK president Anbumani Ramadoss on Thursday criticised Tamil Nadu Assembly Speaker M. Appavu for having not acknowledging his letter that the party’s Dharmapuri MLA S.P. Venkateshwaran will replace Pennagaram MLA G.K. Mani as the party’s floor leader in the House and other replacements.
In a statement, Dr. Anbumani said the Speaker’s inaction was condemnable. He noted that he had written to Mr. Appavu intimating the decision on replacing the floor leader, which was taken unanimously in a meeting of PMK MLAs held in Panaiyur near Chennai on September 24. Mettur MLA S. Sadhasivam will be the deputy floor leader and Mailam MLA C. Sivakumar will be the party’s whip in the House, he had said in the letter.
Dr. Anbumani also said no action had been taken on his earlier communication to the Speaker about his decision to remove Salem West MLA and PMK whip R. Arul, from the party’s primary membership and Mailam MLA C. Sivakumar had been selected as the party’s whip.
He alleged that only G.K. Mani has been given an opportunity to speak in assembly debates He urged Mr. Appavu to acknowledge the changes and warned of protest if action is not taken.
