A case of ragging emerged from Andhra Pradesh’s Palnadu district, where a first-year intermediate student at a government college was allegedly assaulted and subjected to electric shocks by a group of seniors.
The incident, captured in a video now circulating online, reportedly occurred at Dachepalli Government Junior College.
Sources said the victim was taken to a hostel, beaten, and given electric shocks by the accused, all second-year students and minors, reported NDTV.
The attackers also filmed the act and allegedly threatened to kill the victim, with one outsider reportedly involved in the assault.
The victim’s parents have lodged a police complaint, prompting an investigation.
Several student groups have staged protests demanding action, while the college has yet to issue an official statement.
