A warden at a hostel in Andhra Pradesh’s Visakhapatnam was suspended for multiple lapses after state Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha, during a surprise inspection on the hostel premises, found a cockroach in her meal.
A video shared on X by Telegu Scribe showed Vangalapudi Anitha having a meal with some female students.
As she spoke, she showed a cockroach, which she, as per the report, found in her meal.
Another report by Deccan Chronicle claimed that the Home Minister, during her inspection, found that there were no CCTV cameras on the hostel premises and that the warden had departed from the hostel prior to her scheduled leaving time.
According to the report, the warden was supposed to stay at the hostel until 9 pm, but had left by 5 pm.
In a press conference, Anitha provided details on the other lapses on the hostel premises, and said that the rice being provided to the students was not of fine quality, and was not as per the prescribed menu.
Further, the minister reportedly contacted the district collector and ordered the warden’s suspension.
She also ordered the installation of CCTV cameras at all hostels in the district and instructed regular inspections of all hostels.
