VIJAYAWADA: Proving that talent knows no boundaries, students from Andhra Pradesh govt schools have once again showcased their excellence on the national stage by winning four out of six prizes at the National-level Indo-Russian Space Collaboration Competition.
The young achievers outperformed students from leading private and corporate schools across the country by excelling in speaking, writing, and drawing categories. The achievement comes as part of the Science Exposure Tour to New Delhi, an initiative launched to ignite scientific curiosity among govt school students. Expressing their joy and gratitude, the students said they were thankful to Chief Minister N.
Chandrababu Naidu and the state govt for giving them a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to visit the national capital and participate in hands-on science learning. As part of the tour, the students attended sessions at KIET Engineering College in Ghaziabad, where certified ISRO scientists introduced them to the fascinating world of rocket science. The young minds learned about rocket launching, the role of cryogenic fuel, and the science behind overcoming Earth’s gravitational pull.
In the afternoon, they participated in an engaging practical session where they assembled model rockets and successfully launched them to heights of up to 150 meters.
“The excitement on the faces of these students was priceless,” said Kesineni Venkateswarlu, CEO of AP Science City, who has been closely monitoring the programme. “They didn’t just learn theory—they experienced science in action. Our goal is to make every student in govt schools believe that they, too, can become future space scientists or innovators.” Venkateswarlu added that the Science Exposure Programme is a collaborative effort under Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan to bring high-quality science learning to every corner of the state. “We are thankful to the Chief Minister and HRD Minister Nara Lokesh for their vision in promoting scientific temper among young students. This exposure helps them see science not as a textbook subject, but as a real-world adventure,” he said.
The students also conveyed their appreciation to Industries & Infrastructure Minister BC Janardhan Reddy for his encouragement and to Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu for personally interacting with them and congratulating them on their success. SPD Srinivas of Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan and CEO Venkateswarlu ensured smooth coordination and provided all necessary facilities for the touring students, making the programme a memorable and inspiring journey into the world of science.
