Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Friday announced a grand reward for Telugu cricketer Shree Charani, a member of the Indian women’s cricket team that recently won the World Cup.
The Chief Minister declared a cash award of ₹2.5 crore, 1,000 square yards of land in Kadapa for constructing a house and a Group-1 officer post in the State government, in recognition of her stellar performance and contribution to India’s historic victory.
Ms. Shree Charani called on the Chief Minister and Minister for IT and HRD Nara Lokesh at the CM’s Camp Office, where she was extended a warm welcome.
During the interaction, Ms. Shree Charani shared the joyful moments of the World Cup victory and expressed her gratitude to the Chief Minister and the State government for their encouragement and support.
Congratulating her, the Chief Minister praised the Indian women’s cricket team for showcasing the strength and capability of Indian women, adding that their victory had set a strong example for aspiring women athletes across the country. He wished Ms. Shree Charani and the team greater success in future tournaments.
As a token of appreciation, Ms. Shree Charani presented the Chief Minister with a T-shirt signed by all members of the World Cup-winning Indian team. Former Indian women’s cricket captain Mithali Raj accompanied Ms. Shree Charani during the meeting.
Earlier, at Gannavaram airport, the woman cricketer was given a grand reception by Ministers V. Anitha, S. Savitha, and G. Sandhya Rani, Andhra Cricket Association president Kesineni Chinni, secretary Sana Satish, and SAAP Chairman A. Ravi Naidu, who later accompanied her to the Chief Minister’s Camp Office in Amaravati.
