In a shocking incident, a 25-year-old woman was allegedly tied to a tree and beaten by a loan shark in Kuppam mandal of Andhra Pradesh’s Chittoor District after her husband reportedly failed to repay a debt.

The incident took place in the Narayanapuram village where Sirisha, 25, was tied to a tree with a rope and assaulted by the accused, identified as Munikannappa. The accused had reportedly lent Sirisha’s husband, Thimmarayappa, Rs 80,000 three years ago.

Unable to repay the debt, Thimmarayappa had left the village with his wife and their children. However, Sirisha, who works as a daily labourer, had returned to the village to retrieve her children’s exam certificates, as per reports.

Munikannappa reportedly spotted her in the village and started verbally abusing her, even threatening her life if the loan was not immediately repaid. According to witnesses, Munikannappa dragged Sirisha to a tree, tied her with a rope and started beating her.

The accused also threatened and physically attacked locals who attempted to film the incident on their mobile phones. After receiving information from locals, police arrived on the scene and took Munikannappa into custody.

Andhra Govt Speaks To Victim

A case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including sections 341 (wrongful restraint), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means), 506 (criminal intimidation), and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention), was registered against Munikannappa.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu ordered strict action against the accused and his family for the cruel treatment of Sirisha. He spoke to the District Superintendent of Police and directed the police to extend all support to the victim’s family, as per reports.

Andhra Pradesh Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha spoke via video call with the woman. During the conversation, the minister listened to the victim’s account and gathered complete details about the incident. She assured the victim that the Andhra Pradesh government would stand by her and provide all possible support.

She also spoke with Chittoor District SP V.N. Manikanta Chandolu and directed him to submit a thorough report on the incident.
