Reports suggest Postecoglou may be sacked by Spurs, despite winning the Europa League, after a poor Premier League season, finishing 17th with 22 defeats.

Life in the Premier League is never easy, and Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou might be coming to this realization as rumors circulate about his potential sacking despite his recent success.

Much to the dismay of Manchester United and Arsenal fans, Tottenham Hotspur achieved the unthinkable by securing a major trophy. They triumphed over Manchester United with a 1-0 victory in the Europa League final in Bilbao, ending a 17-year trophy drought.

Despite this historic win, Ange’s future at the club remains uncertain. He recently assured Spurs fans that “season three is better than season two," yet his position is still in jeopardy.

The North London club is expected to announce its final decision regarding Postecoglou’s future this coming week. According to reports from Football Insider, it seems the Tottenham hierarchy has already decided to end his tenure, just over a week after he delivered their first trophy in 17 years.

The 59-year-old Australian is apparently set to pay the price for a disastrous Premier League campaign, which saw the team finish in 17th place—their worst-ever result—with 22 defeats and 65 goals conceded.

Although Postecoglou has ended Tottenham’s 17-year wait for a major trophy, this achievement might not be enough to secure his position. He acknowledged the precarious nature of his role, humorously noting that sometimes “they kill off the main character."

“Somebody rightly pointed out, sometimes they kill off the main character, so I could be in strife there," Postecoglou told reporters with a laugh on Saturday.

“I’m not going to put a limit on what we can achieve, but I’m excited about the possibilities for next year, knowing I have a group of players, staff, and a club that knows what it takes to win."

He admitted that he hasn’t had any discussions with the club regarding his future. “Maybe they were just waiting for clear air to give me some guidance, but I haven’t heard anything from the club."

When asked if he would be at the club next season, Postecoglou said he hadn’t given it much thought.

“I assume at some point somebody will tell me something," he added. “If not, I’m just going to roll up next year and be a bit like George Costanza from Seinfeld—I’ll just sit at the desk and get on with my job."
