Journalists and social media users should be ready for a rethink as journalism changes into peddling of falsehoods and half-truths owing to competition, Speaker A.N. Shamseer has said.
He was speaking after inaugurating the S. Anil Radhakrishnan memorial meet and book release here on Monday. The event was held to mark the fourth death anniversary of Anil, former Chief of Bureau, Thiruvananthapuram, The Hindu.
The Speaker released a book Vikaswara Pathakal Arakshitha Yathrikar written by T.C. Rajesh Sindhu as part of the S. Anil Radhakrishnan Fellowship instituted by the Kesari Memorial Journalists’ Trust and Anil’s family.
The Speaker urged the public to be more diligent in observing road safety rules. He pointed out that people who had no qualms about following road safety rules abroad often complained when rules were strictly enforced in the State. This should change.
Former member of the Planning Board C.P. John received the first copy of the book. Former head of the Department of Journalism, University of Kerala, M. Vijayakumar presided. Raj Bhavan former public relations officer S.D. Prins introduced the book.
Kesari Memorial Journalists’ Trust president Schiller Stephen, Kerala Union of Working Journalists State committee member Suresh Vellimangalam, and Anil’s wife S.S. Sindhu were present.
