BJP Tamil Nadu former president K. Annamalai, on Tuesday (June 3, 2025) alleged several questions remain unanswered in the Anna University sexual assault case and accused the DMK government of attempting to “shield” certain individuals.

In a video posted on his X handle, Mr. Annamalai raised several questions to the State government and claimed the convict Gnanasekar spoke to a police officer and a DMK functionary after committing the crime, last year. He claimed to have accessed the Call Detail Records (CDR) of the accused and the DMK functionary.

Further, he warned that he would reveal the identity of the police officers, whom the accused and the DMK functionary had allegedly contacted, if the State government failed to respond to his questions within 48 hours.

He made these allegations a day after the Mahila Court in Chennai sentenced the accused to undergo life imprisonment for a minimum period of 30 years without remission.
