Sleuths from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Friday arrested another accused in the 2022 BJP Yuva Morcha worker Praveen Nettaru murder case.

The accused, Abdul Rahaman, absconding for the past two years, was arrested at Kannur International Airport on his arrival from Qatar on Friday morning, the NIA said.

The NIA had in April this year filed a supplementary chargesheet in the case adding four accused, including Abdul Rahaman and two other absconders, taking the total number of people chargesheeted in the case to 28. The NIA had also declared rewards for information relating to six absconders. Abdul Rahaman was carrying a reward of ₹4 lakh for his arrest, the NIA said.

“NIA investigations had revealed that Abdul Rahaman had, on directions of the Popular Front of India leadership, voluntarily harboured the main assailants and others involved in the case. He had fled to Qatar after the attackers were arrested,” the NIA claimed in a statement issued on Friday.
