Police are searching for a private travel bus that had allegedly hit the motorcycle of K. Shiva Shankar of Kurnool much before the V Kaveri bus collided with the bike leading to the flames that killed 19 passengers.
Shiva Shankar’s friend Erriswamy, who was riding pillion when the accident occurred, told the police that a Blue bus hit the motorcycle that was lying on the road and dragged it for a few metres. The bike then fell on the middle of the road and the V Kaveri travels bus collided with it.
During the reconstruction of the crime scene also, the police arrived at a conclusion that the bike was dragged for a few metres before the V Kaveri bus collided with it.
Compensation from the company
The Vemuri Kaveri travels management has handed over a cheque of ₹40 lakh to Kurnool district administration as compensation to the families of the deceased and injured in the recent accident involving their bus at Chinna Tekuru in the district.
Representatives of the company handed over the cheque to Collector A. Siri in the presence of Minister for Industries and Commerce T.G. Bharath, Panyam MLA Gouru Charitha, Superintendent of Police Vikrant Patil and others. The management had provided ₹2 lakh each to the families of the 19 deceased and ₹50,000 each to the four persons who suffered severe injures.
