I felt childlike happiness on stage

Independent singer-songwriter Anuv Jain has concluded the India leg of his Dastakhat Tour, marking the end of a significant chapter in his ongoing world tour. Spanning multiple cities, the concerts drew large turnouts and reflected the steady growth of his live audience over the past few years.

What stood out, however, was not just the scale of the venues but the response from listeners who have followed his music closely.Reflecting on the journey, Anuv shared a note about what the tour meant to him. “The India leg of my world tour is now over, so I wanted to share my thoughts with you. There’s a reason I broke down during my first show in Delhi. I felt pure, childlike happiness on stage, and you were the reason. It was my job to make you cry, but look what happened,” he said.Describing the past year as “big, beautiful yet brutal,” he admitted he carried those experiences with him on stage. “So much has happened, so much has been said. When I saw you, my family, showing up for me, I couldn’t hold back. And that’s what you did. You showed up in every city,” he added, acknowledging the consistency of his audience’s support throughout the tour.Despite these being among the largest shows of his career, Anuv said they felt unexpectedly personal.

“These were some of the biggest shows I’ve done, yet they felt the most intimate. It never felt like I was performing for a crowd. It felt like I was performing for every individual. Not one concert for ten thousand people, but ten thousand individual shows,” he reflected. As the India leg of Dastakhat concludes, Anuv said the tour reaffirmed his belief in live performance as a shared experience. “These shows have done what they’re supposed to do. Bring the artist and the audience closer,” he noted, signing off with gratitude before heading into the next phase of his tour.
