APNEUROCON, the 32nd annual conference of Andhra Pradesh State Neuroscience Association, began at Narayana Medical College (NMC) in Nellore on Friday (July 4). The three-day event is organised by Simhapuri Neuro Club and Narayana Medical College.

Dr. Sampath Kumar, the event’s organising secretary and head of the department of neurology at NMC, emphasised the importance of continuous academic learning in clinical practice.

“We began this conference with a high-impact academic workshop focused on surgical options for drug-resistant epilepsy, and advanced approaches in the treatment of stroke and spinal disorders. These sessions are aimed at enriching the clinical skills of neurologists and neurosurgeons for better patient outcomes,” he said.

Speaking on the occasion, P. Srinivasulu Reddy, President of Simhapuri Neuro Club, expressed pride in hosting APNEUROCON in Nellore for the third time—after successful conferences in 2007 and 2017.

He noted that the overwhelming response from both senior faculty and young doctors highlighted the strong academic foundation being laid in the region.

The conference attracted over 600 medical professionals and over 70 national-level speakers, making it one of the largest neurosciences gatherings in the State this year so far.

Venkata Ramanamurthy, general secretary of Andhra Pradesh Neurosciences Association and senior consultant neurologist at Apollo Hospitals, Nellore, lauded the efforts taken by the organisers.

The meet covers crucial topics such as brain tumours, traumatic brain injuries, paediatric neurological disorders, epilepsy and neurocritical care.
