Apollo Tyres Ltd has inaugurated a dedicated outdoor tyre testing facility in Ivalo, Finland, marking the commissioning of a project announced earlier and operational since December 2025.

The company said the facility underlines its long-term focus on developing winter and all-season tyres for global markets.The centre has been set up under a long-term agreement with UTAC, an automotive testing and certification group. The inauguration was led by Vice Chairman and Managing Director Neeraj Kanwar, Chief Commercial Officer Benoit Rivallant and Chief Technology Officer Daniele Lorenzetti.

New facility in Finland

The facility includes dedicated snow and ice tracks designed to simulate varied winter driving conditions, along with advanced measurement systems for assessing braking, handling, traction and stability.

The infrastructure has been tailored for detailed tyre performance evaluation.With control over its winter testing programme, Apollo Tyres will be able to manage scheduling across the season and conduct tests in a range of climatic conditions. The company said centralising outdoor winter testing is expected to shorten validation timelines, improve consistency of results and reduce logistical challenges.

The facility has been developed to meet existing technical and legal standards and is designed to adapt to future regulatory requirements and testing protocols.
