TextEditorPanaji: App-based taxi services can bring transparency, compliance and aid in the evolution of Goa’s public transportation, said the Confederation of Indian Industry – Goa council.Transport aggregators will balance growth with sustainability, CII – Goa chairman Arjun Chowgule said during a discussion with transport director Pravimal Abhishek on the need to create a level playing field for all taxi operators and drivers.Stakeholders from the tourism, logistics, startups and manufacturing sectors were present for the discussion.The transport department has been conducting an industry outreach to try and garner support for the new Goa transport aggregator guidelines.“The proposed framework would bring transparency, enforce compliance, and promote inclusivity in the state’s evolving transport sector. The CII is committed to supporting initiatives that balance growth with inclusivity and sustainability,” said Chowgule.During the outreach session, the transport director said the guidelines will benefit local taxi operators as well as ensure last-mile connectivity between industrial hubs and residential areas.

He said that the guidelines offer direct incentives for electric vehicle adoption. “This could significantly reduce the carbon footprint of the state’s transportation sector if implemented effectively.
