Apple has announced its latest 14-inch MacBook Pro today, and it comes with the M5 chip that promises to make AI tasks up to 3.5 times faster than before. Starting at Rs 1,69,999,, the MacBook Pro goes up for pre-order today and hits stores October 22.The new MacBook Pro keeps the exterior the same, and comes in the usual black and silver colours. The biggest upgrade is the new chip under the hood: the M5 chip. It's got a 10-core GPU with what Apple calls a Neural Accelerator in each core, which translates to seriously quick AI work—whether you're transcribing lecture notes, running image generators, or playing with local language models. The chip also delivers up to 1.6 times faster graphics and a CPU that Apple claims is the world's fastest. For anyone still using an Intel MacBook or even an M1 model, the upgrade numbers are wild: up to 86 times faster AI performance compared to Intel chips, and six times faster than M1 for AI tasks. 3D rendering in Blender will run up to 6.8 times faster than M1 models, while code compiling in Xcode gets a 2.1x speed boost. Gaming performance jumps too, with frame rates up to 3.2 times higher compared to M1 MacBooks.
The new MacBook Pro will last you now the entire day
Here's something worth noting: Apple says you'll get up to 24 hours of battery life.
That's four more hours than M1 models could manage, and 14 extra hours compared to older Intel-based MacBooks. Plus, Apple says that performance will stay consistent whether you're plugged in or running on battery—no throttle down when the Mac’s unplugged.Storage got faster too, with SSDs running up to twice as quick as the previous generation. One can configure it with up to 4TB of space, and everything starts with 16GB of unified memory. The MacBook Pro comes with macOS Tahoe, which brings a redesigned look with Liquid Glass, a transparent menu bar, and improved Spotlight search. Apple Intelligence features are baked in, including Live Translation across multiple languages in Messages, FaceTime, and the Phone app.
