How far would you go for love? This question currently does not apply to the American people, who according to a new survey, would go very far for their one true love- travelling.A survey of 2,000 adults who have travelled in the past year analysed the appeal of the days leading up to a vacation and the post-vacation blues faced after.The research revealed various shocking facts which all combined to substantiate the fact that Americans love and are possibly addicted to travelling.Results revealed that through all the stages of being on a trip, 54% of Americans said nothing compared to being at the destination, while 28% said planning the trip is the best part and 78% nodded towards coming back home being the worst part.

'Home sweet home' is not a feeling that echoes within the American hearts it seems.

No matter how great a trip may have been, one's home is the most relaxing place across the globe. But for American people, the 'post-vacation funk' is a hard-hitting feeling.The survey revealed that 1 out of 10 experience the feeling before they even leave for the trip and 22% experience it while returning back home. 41% of those who felt post-vacation funk said that the feeling makes them miss the destination, while 35% missed having something to look forward to and 34% were already dreaming about the next trip.

26% of people admitted that they crave the "buzz" of having a trip planned most of the average week. They added what they would readily give up right now for a trip including, "a week's pay," "eating out for a month," and "listening to music for a week."A shocking 31% of Americans plan their next trip while still on a trip and 47% of them haven't done so yet, but would in order to ease the post-vacation funk.

Nearly half of Americans who travelled in the past year would book a "last-minute" trip to just satisfy the urge to travel.When asked how soon was too soon to start planning, people said that planning fewer than two weeks out is too late.While one might be late, the average survey participant was currently thinking of four trips and already had two of them planned.Having a trip already booked makes 56% of people have something to look forward to, 43% feel happier and 41% feel more motivated.For those surveyed, going on a trip is not just for fun, but a form of self-care, too — preferred above going to a spa (83%), watching their favourite show or movie (76%) or treating themselves to something nice (69%).
