Arjun Tendulkar takes five-for in first match after engagement to Saaniya Chandok

Arjun Tendulkar made a striking return to competitive cricket after seven months away from the field. The young all-rounder, who recently got engaged to Saaniya Chandok, shared his excitement on Instagram, posting that he took a wicket on the very first ball of his first competitive match back.

He later revealed that he also claimed his first five-wicket haul of the season in the very same game, signalling a promising start to his comeback.

Arjun’s engagement to Saaniya, granddaughter of noted Mumbai industrialist Ravi Ghai, was a private affair attended only by close friends and family. Both the Tendulkar and Ghai families have maintained discretion, choosing not to release any official statements. Saaniya, known for keeping a low public profile, belongs to a family with deep roots in the food and hospitality sector, including ownership of the InterContinental Hotel and Brooklyn Creamery.At 25, Arjun is still shaping his cricketing journey. A left-arm fast bowling all-rounder, he began his senior career with Mumbai in the 2020-21 season before moving to Goa, where he made his List A and first-class debuts. His IPL debut came in 2023 for the Mumbai Indians against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Wankhede Stadium.In first-class cricket, Arjun has played 17 matches, taking 37 wickets, including a five-wicket haul, while also scoring a century and two half-centuries lower down the order.
