Armed robbers steal Rs 30 lakh from trader in Jamshedpur using chilli powder

Jamshedpur: Armed miscreants robbed a trader of Rs 30 lakh by allegedly hurling chilli powder at his face on the Gurudwara Road at Rani Kudar on Thursday.Saket Kumar Agiwal, an FMCG products dealer and a resident of Gurudwara colony, was carrying 30 lakh rupees in a bag.

He was riding his scooter to the bank in Bistupur to deposit the money.

After driving 500 meters, his scooter was intercepted at the Gurudwara crossing road, by a speeding car.“Suddenly, when I stopped the scooter, three to four people came out of the car, hurled chili powder into my eyes, and snatched the bag from my possession. When he tried to chase the robbers, they fired bullets in the air to frighten him.”The police reached the incident site after the incident and launched an investigation into the matter.“We are examining the CCTV footage to identify the miscreants. A probe is underway,” said SP (City) Kumar Shivashish.The daylight loot incident occurring a day after the gold ornaments valued at Rs 10 lakh were looted at gunpoint from a jewellery shop in Sonari has triggered sharp reactions from the traders and public representatives.“Crime control is not on the priority list of the police,” said Jamshedpur (West) MLA Saryu Roy.Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) general secretary Manav Kedia said that two incidents of robbery in consecutive days have shaken the confidence of the traders.
