The Indian Army and Assam Rifles, in coordination with the Manipur Police and other agencies, carried out a series of joint operations across multiple districts in Manipur last week, from July 29 to August 4.

The operations took place in Bishnupur, Churachandpur, Thoubal, Imphal West and Imphal East districts. Based on specific information, the security forces launched coordinated actions to counter insurgent activity in the region.

A total of 15 active insurgents were apprehended. They belonged to various valley- and hill-based groups.

Security forces recovered 69 weapons, 16 improvised explosive devices (IEDs), grenades, radio sets and other items used in armed conflict. These included service weapons that had been taken earlier, country-made arms, and explosives.

Important recoveries were made in forested and remote areas such as Dampi Ridge, Tollen and K Geljang in Churachandpur district, as well as in Imphal East and Imphal West. Among those arrested were members claiming leadership roles in banned groups such as KCP, PREPAK, KYKL, and UNLF-P.

Officials said the operations were aimed at preventing the spread of violence and maintaining order in the region.
