Itanagar: The Arunachal Pradesh State Health Society (NCVBDC) on Monday organised a day-long sensitisation meeting for officials from 16 malaria-free districts in Naharlagun.The meeting focused on the rigorous process of district dossier preparation and verification required for the sub-national malaria elimination certification, said health services deputy director and NCVBDC state project officer KT Mulung.In the meeting, attended by health services director Marbom Basar, National Health Mission mission director Marge Sora, NCVBDC senior national consultant Kalpana Baruah and WHO-India Soumyadeep Chaudhuri, the district officials were sensitised on the technical requirements and necessary procedures for achieving district certification, aligning with the nation’s goal of becoming a malaria-free by 2030.Discussions also focused on strengthening malaria surveillance, data validation, dossier preparation, and inter-departmental coordination.Baruah praised Arunachal for being the first state to organise such a dedicated sensitisation meeting and pledged continued technical support from the national level.Mulung said the effort moves the state closer to its vision of zero indigenous malaria in Arunachal Pradesh by 2027 and the ultimate goal of malaria-free Arunachal by 2030.
