Arunachal students’ body declares bandh after transferred teachers fail to join schools

Itanagar: The All West Kameng District Students’ Union on Saturday declared a 24-hour bandh across the district on Monday, protesting against teachers who are yet join their postings in various schools.While the state govt issued a notification on July 20, transferring 203 teachers across various districts of the state, 12 of them were transferred to different schools in West Kameng.However, nearly seven weeks after the declaration, the teachers are yet to join their designated schools in West Kameng district, hampering the academic progress of the students and overall functioning of the schools.Union president Khambo Sakrinsow said they had initially allowed 15 days to the teachers to join their duties, but when they failed to report at their designated schools, the union took up the matter with the education commissioner on August 5.The union also said that they had submitted memorandums to the CM and education minister regarding the matter on August 26.
